5 Christmas Activities To Do With The Kids

Before we know it, the festive season will be well and truly upon us. So, why not think ahead and plan some activities to do, as a family, with your children to get them excited for Christmas?

Whether you’re planning on staying home this winter or grabbing one of the many Xmas getaways UK destinations are offering this festive season, we wanted to help you find activities to do with your children, to get you all in the Christmassy spirit.

So, if you’re ready, here are some activities you could be doing to step into Christmas…

Write a Letter to Father Christmas

Top of the list has to be a letter to the big man himself, Father Christmas.

Whatever age your little one is, help them write a letter to Santa – get them to tell him about their year and what they’d like for Christmas, and wish him luck for his long flight around the world on Christmas Eve. You could even include a drawing on the letter or paperclip a drawing to the letter.

Once letters and drawings are created, pop them in an envelope and send them to him. You can either leave them on the fireplace before bedtime or write Santa’s address on the front of the envelope and post it through a letterbox – you never know, he could reply!

Christmas Films and Movies

What better way to get into the Christmas spirit than to sit down as a family and watch a Christmas film or two, paired with your favourite festive snacks and treats, such as mince pies, popcorn, gingerbread, hot chocolate, and so much more!

To make it more festive, why not switch off the lights, pop on the fairy lights or Christmas tree, grab some snuggly blankets and snuggle together to watch your favourites.

Make Mince Pies

Make the house smell festive by making your mince pies with the kids. Use different cookie cutters to create festive images on top of the pies, or stick with a traditional holly leaf design.

Get the kids involved by getting them to rollout the pastry, or cut out the circles for the base of the pies, get them to spoon in the mincemeat mixture from the jar into the cases and help them top the pies off with your pastry topper designs.

Make Your Own Christmas Cards

Get the craft supplies out and make your very own Christmas cards. Not only will you be spending quality time together, but you can make special cards to give to friends, family or even teachers!

Let their imagination run wild by letting them use an array of materials, such as biodegradable glitter, felt, card, foam, and so much more.

Decorate the Christmas Tree

It seems like such a simple thing to do, but the kids will really enjoy helping you get the house, or staycation accommodation, ready for Christmas!

Play some Christmas music and get your favourite festive drinks and snacks to up the Christmassy feel.

You could even start a new tradition of making or buying a new ornament for the tree each year, which could be the last thing to add to your tree.
