Tom Brady is a genius. He knows that Rob Gronkowski has a hard time answering questions, so he asks him a question that’s difficult for Gronk to answer.
Rob Gronkowski retired from the NFL on March 28, 2019. Tom Brady asked him a tough question he had a hard time answering.
When Tom Brady is on the field during a game, he takes it as seriously as any other NFL player. He does, however, have a good time off the field, particularly when he’s with longtime teammate and renowned jokester Rob Gronkowski. The quarterback and tight end for the Patriots and Buccaneers are in their 11th season together, and they have established a solid connection both on and off the field. They demonstrated their brotherhood in a recent YouTube video in which they teased one other like best friends.
Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski were featured in the YouTube video series “Google It.”
The guys wear absurdly large mirrored sunglasses beside a kiddie pool in the “Google It | Tommy & Gronky” video uploaded on the Bucs’ YouTube. They spent the whole 5-minute video addressing Google’s most frequently asked questions about the couple. One person asked whether Brady could play until he was 50 years old.
“I believe I can, I think it’s a yes,” the 44-year-old joked, adding that playing in Florida now enables him to retire there after his career is done. Brady then asked Gronk whether he can dunk, and the tight end responded affirmatively, recounting his first dunking experience as a high school freshman.
Rob Gronkowski was asked whether he could rap by Tom Brady.
A topic came up towards the conclusion of the video that Brady joked was a “difficult” one for Gronkowski to answer. Simply put, the issue was whether Gronk could rap. Brady combined one inquiry with another, asking whether Gronk could touch the Lombardi Prize and then having Gronk rap about the trophy given to Super Bowl winners.
“All right, there we go,” Gronk remarked, pausing for a minute before launching into an impromptu rap about going for the Lombardi Trophy. “Check it out, every year we go for the Lombardi,” Gronk said after a few seconds. That’s because Tom and I are both very intelligent. You’d best be careful because our adversaries, we…” The movie suddenly shut off at that moment, and a test pattern appeared along with a beep, as though an obscenity in the video was being censored.
Brady and Gronk’s friendship has blossomed both on and off the field.

Gronk and Brady immediately established themselves as an offensive threat on the field in Gronk’s debut season of 2010, collecting 10 touchdown receptions from Brady. In February 2015, the duo won their first of four Super Bowls together. “It’s simply an honor to play alongside Brady,” Gronk told reporters before to the game. Brady was playing in his sixth Super Bowl at the time. Despite his legendary position in the NFL, Gronk referred to Brady as “the leader” who works hard and stays humble.
Brady lobbied for Gronk to be signed when he signed with the Bucs last year, and the pass catcher came out of retirement to do exactly that and continue his career alongside Brady. Brady has thrown more than 80 regular-season touchdown passes to Gronk, which is the third-most in NFL history.
Their connection has developed off the field as a result of their success on the field. In 2015, they attended the Kentucky Derby together, and Gronk has stated that seeing Brady’s health-conscious expression after having a shot is his favorite Brady off-field memory.
Brady tackling Gronk on the field at Fenway Park for the Red Sox home opening in 2017 and filming their first commercial together after their last Super Bowl victory earlier this year are two more highlights of their relationship. Then there are the four Super Bowl parades they’ve attended together to celebrate.
